Our Favourite Cafes and Bakeries In Cornwall

What would be a trip to Cornwall without a cornish pasty, a cream tea or cake. Here's our favourites.

Yummy Scrummy Cafe and Bakery

A small chain family business with several locations; St Ives, Par, Devoran, Truro and A30 Summecourt. Organic and local produce on the menu and fresh bread and baked cakes to go. Toasties, sweet and savoury pancakes, cream teas, soup, a range of cakes including vegan and gluten free, but best of all try the afternoon tea, cheese scone, fruit scone, jam, clotted cream, sandwiches, cakes, brownies, fresh strawberries, chocolate dip, what more could you want.

Lily's of Truro

Independent cafe and creative space, pop in for tea, locally roasted coffee, a milkshake or a fresh juice, breakfast, lunch or cake! A great place if you're veggie, vegan or have dietary requirements as there's lots on offer, and its dog friendly. Porridge, granola, avocado on toast, bacon butty, pastries, bagels, sandwiches, wraps, salad bowls, stews, baked potatoes, quiches and a constantly changing selection of treats.

The Old Teahouse

Located in Wadebridge, near Polzeath. It's a tiny place and you'll often struggle to find a table, but it's a lovely cosy little cafe for a raining morning in Cornwall, warm up with a tea or coffee and grab something off the menu, you'll find all the things you would expect from a traditional British tea room, good cake, scones and a pot of tea to warm up.

Flo's Kitchen

Situated next to Spar in Polzeath find Flo's Kitchen. For the best toasties, salads, Cornish pasties (including vegan pasties), shortbread and coffee in Polzeath, don't go anywhere but here!

The Beach Box

Find the beach box on you guessed it, the beach, in Polzeath and Mawgan Porth. Though it is not far from Flo's Kitchen listed above, here is where you'll want to head for the best, breakfast butties, smoothie bowls, wraps, vegan carrot cake in Polzeath. It also does good ice cream including vegan ice cream and coffee, but for our top Cornish Ice creams check out our separate blog post.

Pengenna's Bakery

They've been making pasties using an original family recipe in Cornwall for over 30 years, find them in St Ives, Bude and Tintagel, and by many are considered the best in Cornwall. Pop by in the morning to pick up some freshly baked bread or pastries for breakfast or your picnic on the beach.

Bread and Butter

Based in Truro and formerly known as Emily's of Truro they've recently rebranded but you'll still get the same delicious dishes, cakes, cold pressed juices and coffee. Their tagline a (mostly) healthy eatery, Emily the founder is also a dietician and will cater to all dietary requirements. Try the pancakes, soup, salads and crumpet toasties.

St Ives bakery

Voted one of Europe's best bakeries, expect the queue to be coming out the door followed by the smell of freshly baked goodies. An array of freshly baked bread, pastries, savoury snacks, pasties, doughnuts, muffins, huge meringues, tarts, sandwiches and cookies, there is something for everyone.

Strong Adolfo's

Strong Adolfo's catch line is 'reinventing roadside dining' and they sure are! Part of a string of shops and businesses (which are also worth a visit and browse) along a busy main road connecting some of Cornwalls busiest towns, making this cafe a very popular spot. Book ahead or turn up early if you have your eye on brunch. It's one of the best you'll find in Cornwall, from pancakes, to full english to a breakfast burrito, and smoothies, its got the traditional options plus a few different favourites. Including great vegan options.

A former favourite, which has now closed, down one of St Ives oldest streets The Digey, used to be The Digey food room, a great little place selling delicious breakfast and lunch, (with good veggie options) and local produce, its now been taken over by new owners and they've opened a new cafe, interested to try this out. Oh and also pop into lettings agents Cornish Gems, coffee Lounge and try the seasalt brownies, Yum!
