Our Top 10 Ice Cream Parlours And Makers in the World

In no particular order here are our favourite ice creams from around the world, churning the best ice cream one scoop at a time. All of which are worth the queue, we tip our spoons to them.

1. Heladería Emporio La Rosa - Santiago, Chile and Mist - Santiago, Chile

In Santiago its a toss up between these two ice cream parlours so much so we just can't choose. Heladeria Emporio La Rosa has a number of parlours scattered across the city, not only does it have nearly every ice cream flavour under the sun but it also has magnum style ice creams hand decorated. No wonder its in 'The Daily Meals' top 25, and by our local tour guide considered the best. Their food is also good here, so stop by for lunch or just ice cream.

Mist, this time ice Cream Rolls, it may not have as many flavours but you can basically make your own, they'll mix it altogether, who knew cookies, cream and lemon would make such a good combination, exactly what you need in 35 degree heat.

2. Unframed - Cape Town, South Africa

Although Unframed does not have anywhere near the flavour options as the others on this list, its for good reason, 'small batches from scratch for real and sustainable food', never have I seen an ice cream brand with sustainability at the forefront. They've still got it all, dairy based, fruit sorbets and vegan ice cream as well as a variety of toppings, and at number 1 on Big 7's 50 best ice creams in the world there obviously doing something right and showing if you're flavours are good you don't need tens or hundreds.

3. Moomaids of Zennor and Callestick Farm - Cornwall, UK

Because what is a trip to the beach without some of the best ice cream to eat, try the classic clotted cream or go for something more adventurous.

4. Gelarto Rosa – Budapest, Hungary

Possibly the most photogenic ice cream on the list, and its not a gimmick it tastes great too, if you don't trust us, believe 'Big 7' #12 best ice cream in the world.

5. Snugberrys - Chester, UK

The city of Chester has 2 big rivals in the ice cream game, Snugberrys and Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, Snugberrys just about tops it for us. Named #35 Best ice cream by Big 7.

6. Cows - Banff, Canada

After a hike, head for a well deserved treat or a cool down after the hot springs, Cows in Banff has you covered. Voted some of the best Ice Cream in Canada.

7. Pidapipo, Melbourne, Australia

Constantly changing small batches of seasonal flavours inspired by Italian roots. Number 2 in Big 7's best ice creams in Australia, but could easily battle its way to number 1. Followed very closed behind by Gelato Messina, Sydney, taking 3rd spot but still up there with the best in the world.

8. Cukiernia sowa, Krakow, Poland

Not just ice cream, great cakes too, and you'll find them scattered across Poland, more recently they opened a store in London.

9. Udderlicious - London, UK

You can even suggest a flavour of the month, if yours get gets picked, you'll be able to get a free ice cream everyday for that month. With some pretty unique flavours like avocado, builders tea, jam doughnut, marmite and panettone, you're guaranteed to find something new to try, and yes that is a digestive on top!

10. Tomaselli Gelteria, Innsbruck, Austria

The queue will often block one of the main streets in Innsbruck that how good it is, even when it's snowing outside, so imagine the queue in summer.

Special Mentions

Chamonix

There's not many Ice cream parlours in Chamonix we tried out 2 although we've forgotten which one was better, so try out Chamon Ice and Glaces Gérard Bellay for us and let us know, the biscoff / speculoos ice cream was some of the best I've had.

Heladeria Cadore, Buenos Aires

One parlour holds a spot in National Geographics top 10 Ice creams and takes 27th place in Big 7's 50 best ice cream parlours is Heladeria Cadore in Buenos Aires, Argentina, between us we tried strudel, tirimasu, white chocolate and ... however, we both agree compared to others we have included in this top 10 to us it was overrated, but go try it for yourself see whether you agree or disagree.

Orange Ice Cream

A local pub by me used to freshly make the best orange ice cream, I've tried orange ice creams around the world since and nothing compares. Croatia had lots of orange ice cream available but it all tasted like a fruit pastille, so I'm still on the hunt!
