Where to get the Best Ice Cream in Cornwall, a Top 5

Writer's picture: SocksandSandals TravelSocksandSandals Travel

Some of the best ice cream makers in Cornwall, 2 of which even feature in our top ice cream parlours from around the world, that's just how good they are. Try a classic cornish clotted cream ice cream with a with a Cornish fudge stick or try something a bit more adventurous, or if you don't want ice cream grab a sorbet, some of them also have vegan ice cream options! Just watch out for seagulls!

1. Moomaids of Zennor

Luxury Cornish farmhouse ice cream located in Zennor, St Ives and Porthtowan. Equally good flavour selection for ice cream and sorbets, which is a rare find, and also so many topping options! If you like it as much as I do, (and all the people who voted for it for awards) and can't get enough of it, buy a tub!

2. Roskilly's

You'll find shops in both Falmouth and Padstow but don't go too late they close earlier than others on this list. Voted one of the best ice cream parlours in the UK and rightly so, find staple British flavours made into ice cream, cream tea, after eight, crumble and elderflower, along with classic flavours mint chocolate chip and Belgium chocolate, and some more unusual flavours to try; malty mystery, gooseberry yoghurt and chocolate brownie marshmallow.

3. Callestick Farm

With numerous accolades try Callestick ice cream. Visit the tearoom on the farm in Callestick, Truro, or try it in one of many shops that stock Callestick ice cream including Cone Zone, Polzeath. Lots of their flavours combined the classic clotted cream with fruit or a sweet treat, or if you want something a bit different, try; jaffa cake, mince pie or pink champagne sorbet!

4. Treleavens

Another award winning ice cream on the list, this one might just be the most luxurious. Over 30 ice cream flavours and 20 sorbets, there's something for everyone to try, although it does make it tricky if you're indecisive! Try it at Watergate bay hotel, next to Rick Steins fish and chips in Padstow, Constantine Stores, Trevathan Farm, and Yaxley Stores in Polperro!

5. Langage Farm

This one is a slight cheat as it is a Devon based ice cream farm but stocked widely across ice cream parlours in Cornwall, including Cone Zone in Polzeath and Harbour Ice in Padstow. Or stop buy in Devon on your way home and use it as an excuse for one last ice cream!
